This week is going to bring a smile to your faces, because this week is all about grains. That means you should experiment with bread, rotis, biscuits and flatbreads made from whole grains, rice flour, rye and oats. To these, add a generous helping of sunflower and pumpkin seeds, and if you are ready to stretch that wallet, almonds and pine nuts would make a delicious addition as well.

With the Moon moving from Virgo through Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius, and Mercury and Venus resting in Cancer and Leo respectively, our food repertoire widens considerably this week.

The Uranus in Taurus transit is pushing us to change our eating habits, and to move towards organic foods, avoiding dairy fats, oils, and refined sugars. So those carbs need to be balanced by nutritious protein, and this is where we are spoilt for choice. Egg, seafood, chicken, and lean, unprocessed meats – you can have it all. If you are a vegetarian, opt for broccoli, paneer, tofu, chickpeas, beans, lentils and green peas.

The fruit market is your friend in this week’s zodiac sky. Watermelon, melon, cherries, plums, peaches, green almonds, apricots and avocadoes are just what our bodies need. Use them to create delicious desserts with homemade yogurt, adding cranberries and raisins, nuts, scrapings of dark chocolate, and a little cereal to give it that irresistible crunch.

A yummy midday filler can be juices made with carrots, tomatoes, amla, cucumber, beets, and lemon juice (and a tsp of raw honey if you like).

Be daring, and make your kitchen the arena to challenge yourself, and your taste buds.
