  1. Heat the kadai/ deep frying pan
  2. Heat 3 tbsp of oil
  3. Add the mustard seeds
  4. Add 1 inch piece of ginger finely chopped
  5. Add the 2 green chillies finely chopped
  6. Add 8-10 curry leaves
  7. Add the finely chopped onions
  8. Stir well
  9. Once the onions turn translucent, add the chopped carrots
  10. Add the green peas
  11. Add the chopped potatoes
  12. Stir well
  13. Add ¼ tsp of turmeric powder
  14. Add 1/’2 tsp of red chilli powder
  15. Add 1 tsp of dhaniya powder (coriander powder)
  16. Some salt for the vegetables
  17. Stir well
  18. Add the chopped tomatoes
  19. Stir well for a few minutes
  20. Add the dalia (broken wheat)
  21. Mix it well with the vegetables
  22. Boil 2 ½ bowls of water
  23. TIP : Ratio of dalia to water should always be 1: 2½
  24. Add the boiling water into the kadai/deep frying pan
  25. Add salt as per taste for daliya
  26. Add few coriander leaves
  27. Mix well
  28. TIP: Adding boiling water helps the vegetables to cook quicker and doesn’t let the dalia get sticky
  29. Once the water is completely absorbed cover the kadai/ deep frying pan with a lid and let it cook for 3-4 mins on a low flame
  30. Masala broken wheat is ready to be served
