When was the last time you thought of taking a break and just pampering yourself with luxury and choice, without a second thought about anything else? I'm pretty sure it wasn't that long ago. There's just something about weekend trips, vacations or even a short staycation that offers the ideal opportunity for some much needed rest and rejuvenation. After all, when one is presented with an opportunity to just forget the the stress that comes with work and the boredom brought about by the everyday routine of life, there is hardly any room for a negatory. And that is what led me to JW Mariott, Pune, and then this piece where I share the best of all that they had to offer. Situated in the heart of Pune city, JW Marriott has created a luxurious little oasis that'll give you an indulgent chance to get away from the chaos of everyday life. So buckle up and maybe even keep a duffle bag ready, because this is going to be one fetching ride that may tell you, 'it's time to catch that much needed break'.

First things first
I began my serene staycation sojourn with a dip in the open-air pool. The temperature-controlled, plush pool made the dip on a chilly evening a joyful experience. I was just in time to catch a sight of dramatic orange hues painted against cotton candy skies as the sun set over the bustling city.

Refuel with room-service
It's not just the well-done interiors but the spacious size of the rooms at this urban retreat that instantly made me take to this property. Next up, I highly recommend ordering from their well curated room service menu. Whether you're craving Thai curry, pizzas and pastas, kebabs or even Asian delights, you will find each dish cooked to perfection. Besides, what's better than having your favourite food available on order, 24/7 right? It is indeed thoughtful touches like this that set this stay a notch above the standard, especially for foodies.

Standout dining options
Another reason why I picked JW Marriott for my staycation was to test their culinary hotspots: Alto Vino for its Italian fare; Tao Fu brings authentic Cantonese cuisine and Asian flavours to the table; and Paasha, which is known for its fabulous North Indian spread.
After a laid-back evening, I made my way to Paasha for dinner and drinks. Looking down from the 24th floor of the hotel, the lounge is a rooftop restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, both offering breathtaking views of the city's skyline. The restaurant is the definition of opulence, adorned with majestic arches, a resident DJ that plays groovy tunes and a host of Indian delicacies that'll impress any food connoisseur's palette. I recommend not missing their Dal Paasha, Kakori Kebabs and signature cocktails.

Breakfast club
I started my second day on a wholesome note with a hearty breakfast buffet at Spice Kitchen. With plenty of live counters making fresh dosas, fluffy pancakes, tasty parathas, kadak chai and more, you'll sample the freshest fare brought to your table by the most hospitable staff.

After hours of indulging in the scrumptious spread I was lucky enough to catch a small nap, courtesy the late checkout which can be amongst the highest scores of a staycation.
24 hours later, it was time to say goodbye, but I definitely have JW Marriott, Pune on our list of hotels to revisit soon. And why wouldn't it be? After all, they check every box off the staycation bucket list very meticulously.
