Shut up & bounce (over to Bastian)

Experience the resurgence of Shilpa Shetty's renowned Bastian, now proudly perched atop Dadar's Kohinoor Square as Bastian – At The Top. Strategically positioned just 10 minutes from its former Worli spot, this flagship restaurant invites you to indulge in an unparalleled culinary adventure on the 48th floor, along with a side of captivating landscape views of the city.

This all-new entrant to Mumbai’s food scenario boasts a captivating ambiance designed by Minal Chopra and Ranjit Bindra, resembling a chic cave atop a skyscraper. The 450-seater space seamlessly combines rugged and smooth elements, making the space look cavernous yet opulent at the same time. The area is further loosely divided into sections to accommodate a Cappadocia-esque entrance, a Forest area featuring a 39-foot plunge pool and a Main Bar area offering a suspended niche vibe. The entire restaurant exudes a wabi-sabi charm, using tone-on-tone colours like beige, taupe and earthy shades, complemented by oversized wicker ceiling lamps and chicly-distressed accents.

What We Tried
Now that Bastian is back with a bang, it also brings with it old popular favourites and new exciting plates. We began our sensory journey with the innovative Baño Picante which has tequila silver, lemon juice, passionfruit syrup, cucumber, jalapeño, topped with salty air. Another highlight was the Greenwich Meridian, featuring lemongrass-infused Beefeater gin, cocalero, honey melon, lime and mint.

Building an appetite to try all that Bastian had to offer, we would definitely recommend trying the Hot Rock Carpaccio. But be warned, to enjoy this dish, you’ll have to put in the effort of grilling it too. And the same goes with the likes of the Hot Stone Soup, featuring a flavourful blend of calamari, prawns, white fish and Korean chilli broth expertly crafted by the chef. Exploring their staples, the Truffle Fries proved to be a perfect companion to our drinks, and the dumplings were a burst of rich flavours. We concluded with the Szechuan Chilli Butter Sauce from their Market Menu paired with Burnt Garlic Fried Rice, leaving our taste buds thoroughly satisfied.

What Worked
After all is sipped and devoured, do save room for Bastian’s iconic and Instagrammable desserts. 'At The Top' introduces a Tres Leches Classic, Bit of Bizza, and Chocolate Mont Blanc, offering a visual and flavourful treat to seal the deal. The dessert menu also boasts unique options like Banana Box and Pedro Pudding, ensuring a sweet conclusion to your dining experience.

At The Top impressively combines vintage charm with a modern and affluent vibe. Bastian's culinary offerings continue to shine, with new offerings, their sinful desserts and cherished plates. From a comprehensive drinks menu, you’ll always find a tipple to pair with your meal, be it a fruity cocktail or a negroni. Whether you are a regular at this flagship restaurant or will be dining here for the first time, we can assure you that you will leave the cavern feeling truly mesmerised and completely satiated.

Bring your friends and family for an unforgettable experience at Bastian – At The Top, where extraordinary cuisine, innovative cocktails, and breathtaking views converge to create lasting memories.
