Jim Murray Returns to India for an Iconic Whisky Tour
For Indian whisky lovers, June just became the most spirited month of the year. From June 10 to 14, the country will host a series of intimate blind tasting evenings led by none other than Jim Murray—the man whose words have turned distilleries into global icons. Curated by Nikhil Agarwal, founder of All Things Nice, this exclusive whisky tour is set to unfold across Mumbai, Bangalore, and Gurgaon.

A Voice That Changed the World of Whisky
Murray, best known as the author of Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible, has reviewed over 20,000 whiskies, set industry standards, and single-handedly changed how the world perceives whisky. His visit is more than just a tasting—it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from the very best.

Bringing Something Bold to the Indian Whisky Scene
For Nikhil Agarwal, designing this tour meant bringing something truly new to India’s evolving whisky culture. “The moment you say Jim Murray and whisky in the same sentence, you know you're about to enter a world where even seasoned drinkers realize how much more there is to discover,” he shares. “Our goal was simple: take Jim’s insights to as many cities as possible, and let people experience his wisdom first-hand, alongside some stellar whiskies.”

The Murray Method: No Labels, Just Pure Experience
The evenings will be built around the “Murray Method,” Jim’s unique blind tasting format that eliminates brand bias and focuses purely on the sensory experience. There’s no water or ice here—just temperature manipulation and sharp sensory judgment. “Blind tastings give people a chance to engage with whisky honestly,” Jim explains. “You’re not being sold a brand. You’re tasting what's in the glass and deciding for yourself.”

Whiskies on the Table
Attendees can expect to sample a curated range of international and Indian whiskies, including Royal Salute, Aberlour, The Glenlivet, Ballantine’s, Chivas Regal, and the Indian single malt Seagram’s Longitude 77. Each selection reflects a journey across styles, age statements, and flavour profiles—offering something for every palate.

An Intimate Evening with a Legend
And while the whiskies are top-notch, the atmosphere promises to be relaxed and communal. “We want to create an engaging space where people can ask questions, meet Jim, maybe get a book signed, and just share in the joy of whisky,” says Nikhil. “I’ve been a fan of his long before we ever worked together. His ability to describe whisky is unmatched—he paints a picture with every word.”

India: A Whisky Nation on the Rise
Jim, too, is thrilled to be back. “I first came to India in 1994, and the transformation I’ve seen since then is phenomenal,” he reflects. “Back then, it was mostly just Johnny Walker Black Label. Now, Indian whiskies are not only holding their own—they’re world-class. The passion I see in Indian drinkers is like nowhere else. They’re curious, eager to learn, and always ready to embrace something new.” He also believes India is one of the most exciting whisky-producing nations today. “You’ve got so many climates—from the Himalayas to Goa—and each one lends its own unique character to the whisky. Indian distillers are really pushing boundaries.”

More Than a Tasting—A Movement
Through this tour, both Jim and Nikhil hope to foster a deeper appreciation for whisky—beyond brands and marketing. “Events like these are about exposure, education, and discovery,” Nikhil says. “We still don’t have enough whisky events in India. Even if we did a thousand a year, it wouldn’t scratch the surface. But every tasting, every honest conversation, brings us one step closer to building a more informed, passionate whisky community.”

Limited Seats. Unlimited Stories.
Whether you’re a seasoned whisky aficionado or just beginning your journey, these evenings with Jim Murray promise to challenge your palate, expand your understanding, and leave you with stories worth sipping on for years to come.

Tickets are limited—and with good reason. This isn’t just another tasting. It’s a chance to meet a legend, taste the unexpected, and see whisky in a whole new light.
