Every year, 1 million children in India die of malnutrition with over 40% of the world's malnutrition cases found here. India wastes more than 12 million tonnes of wheat each year and the world wastes more than half of its food produce.
This World Food Day, former actress, food writer and author Tara Deshpande gives a few helpful tips to reduce food wastage.
1. Plan your grocery shopping. You will buy less and save more.
2. Share your food with the needy at a shelter or a food bank.
3. Order wisely while eating at a restaurant. Order less and you will waste less.
