A lemon tart makes for a perfect citrusy dessert.
This zesty fruit has quite a reputation for adding just the extra zing to your curries, meats and even drinks. It’s the one ingredient most cuisines or dishes can’t do without. But instead of just using it for the basics, try whipping up a few of these citrusy delights with lemon.
Lemon Tart
Who doesn’t love a good tart, especially when they are easy to make? To make this, add in sugar, lemon zest, egg yolks, lemon juice, salt and butter in a pot and put on the stove. Mix well and let it cook for a while. Strain it and keep it in the fridge to cook for a few hours. Once cool enough, pipe it onto tart shells, garnish and serve. Easy right?
Lemon Cheesecake
Everyone loves a good cheesecake. Believe us or not, even a slice is enough to end a meal on a happy note. To make this zesty cheesecake, start by mixing together crushed biscuits and melted butter. Add it to a well-greased tin and form a layer at the bottom to make the crust and keep that in the fridge to set. In a bowl, mix together cream cheese, whipped cream, icing sugar, lemon zest and lemon essence. Add this on top of the set crust. Put this in the fridge as well and let it firm up. Garnish with lemon slices and serve.
Lemon Vinaigrette
The secret to a good salad is the dressing and this lemon vinaigrette is the best way to dress your salads with. To make it, mix some fresh lemon juice, salt, minced garlic, lemon zest, honey, mustard and olive oil. Make sure to mix everything well and store in an air tight container. Now dress up your salads all you want.
Candied Lemon
Why waste the lemon zest when you can make a perfectly good snack out of it? To make candied lemon, start by removing the lemon zest with a peeler and cut it into long strips. Boil together sugar and water until the sugar dissolves. Add in the lemon and cook for about 10 minutes. Take it off the heat and let it cool. It’s ready to be binged on!
Lemon Sorbet
The perfect way to cool down on a hot summer afternoon. To make this, add in condensed milk, lemon juice and frozen lemon zest into a blender and mix until well combined. Put this in a container and keep it in the freezer until set and ready to eat.
