It’s official! Celebrated chef and Kolkata boy, Gaggan Anand is now planning to launch a restaurant in his motherland. The city has not been disclosed yet. Gaggan, which serves progressive Indian food in Bangkok, won Asia’s No. 1 restaurant for 2015 recently.
Given its history of serving traditional Indian recipes with a modern twist, this comes as no surprise for the restaurateur draws inspiration heavily from India. The Bangkok eatery is famous for it uses contemporary techniques such as liquid nitrogen and smoking gun to produce good-looking dishes. We hear the friendly staff and impeccable service are duly responsible for taking Gaggan to where it belongs today.
When contacted, Anand said, "Let speculation be speculation as there would be no formal announcement till the doors are open for the restaurant to serve."
The restaurateur, who owes his success to his mother, is now looking for restaurant space in his home ground. Born and raised in Kolkata, we are hoping that Anand makes the right choice. With an ever-changing fine dining space and restaurants serving more than just food, we are excited for Gaggan to launch in India. After all, what food lover doesn't like some drama on a plate?
