‘’Never limit yourself’’, is what Ajay Chopra tells us. The chef who owes his passion for cooking to his Punjabi lineage believes that ‘’you are your biggest obstacle’’. He says that his love for food began when he was just a boy, and even though his parents always wanted him to be a doctor, god had other plans for him.
He started his journey as a chef at the Cecil Oberoi in Shimla and then went on to work with other big names like the JW Marriott in Mumbai, the Mint Leaf chain of restaurants in London and the Westin Hotel in Mumbai. Having the kind of international exposure that he does; he is able to bring a fresh perspective to any of his culinary creations today. He says that while he may not know how to cook every cuisine, as a chef, he knows a lot about ingredients and techniques. He says the knowledge is not limited.
Talking about Maggi’s collaboration with India Food Network to launch the ‘’Apna Food Business’’ campaign for home chefs, he says, ‘’ I think the technical know-how will be provided, and then these chefs will just fly. I’m really excited to be a part of this.’’
