It's almost the end of an era for Pune's iconic eatery Vohuman Cafe. Hormaz Irani, the owner of the 39-year-old establishment serving bun-maska and Irani chai, passed away due to prolonged illness. Punekars who have consistently dropped by at the Irani cafe each morning for breakfast or coffee, remember him as a lively Bawa uncle who loved children.

Pune has its own share of Irani and Parsi food establishments such as Goodluck cafe, Kayani bakery, Dorabjees, Blue Nile and George restaurants. However, locals as well as outstation students and those who come to work in the city, have been a fan of Vohuman's bun-maska and cheese omelette. Some regulars also spend a minute chatting with Hormaz Irani before paying the bill.

Hormaz Irani will be remembered for being the happy 'Uncle' who lived to feed his customers.
