Another long weekend is here. And in all likelihood, several of you are already stuffing things into a bag for a short trip, while reading this, because the travel bug seems to catch on hard during long weekends. A report released by the online portal Booking.com earlier this year revealed where Indians were travelling during the last holiday, which was Holi and it includes diverse places ranging from the capital of our country, New Delhi to the yoga capital of the world, Rishikesh.

From a bustling metro to serene landscapes, read on to know about the best places to travel, and also, where to eat while you're there.

Delhi

The capital is undoubtedly India's food capital. Among its many offerings, here are our favourites:
1) Parathas at Qutub Institutional Area: Drop by for a late night bite here.
2) Majnu Ka Tila: Travel to this Nepalese settlement and dig into authentic northeastern food. Also a great pit stop if you're travelling to the mountains via bus.

Mumbai

If you find yourself amidst the bustling life of Mumbai, make sure to visit the following places:
1) Tewari Bros. at Girgaon: Definitely try their raj kachori.
2) Elco Pani Puri in Bandra West: Drop by at Elco's for a chatpata meal.

Goa

Freckled with beaches and churches, Goa is an all-time paradise for all, which can be easily reached by road, rail, and air. If you decide to visit Goa and enjoy the breeze on a sea shore, do not forget to check out these places:
1) Larder and Folk at Panjim: Try their fried chicken burger and lemongrass chicken banh mi.
2) Bombil at Panjim: If you are a seafood fanatic, this place will not disappoint.

Rishikesh

The best place to unwind after a hectic week. Known for white water rafting, cliff jumping, temples, cafes, and the famous Beatles ashram there is no better place to combine celebration and vacation.
1) Tat Cafe at Tapovan: Definitely visit to enjoy a wholesome meal with a side of a breath-taking sunset.
2) Little Buddha Cafe at Laxman Jhula: Great ambience and great food. Do try their continental sizzlers and pizza.

Bengaluru

If you are looking to relax at a place with great weather, that is neither too hot nor too cold. We're obviously talking about Bengaluru! These are our favourite spots in the city:
1) Misu at St. Marks Road: This place is a hotspot for ramen lovers.
2) Truffles at Koramangala: This fast-food joint is famous for their mean burgers and steaks.

Jaipur

With so many forts, palaces, museums, markets, restaurants and parks to visit, Jaipur offers a unique charm of its own. And in this colourful city, make sure to visit these food hubs:
1) Chokhi Dhani at 12 Mille Tonk Road: Visit for a full Rajasthani experience where you sit down with dal bhati churma, khichdi and the likes in your thali.
2) Anokhi Cafe at Prithviraj Road: A multi-cuisine cafe, perfect for those who like to try a little bit of everything.

Lonavala

If you are looking at isolating yourself from the chaos of the city then, head to Lonavala. Check out or favourite picks from the vacay hotspot:
1) Chandralok Hotel at Takwe Kurth: Enjoy a meal a la desi-style, at this wholesome thali joint.
2) Live Fudge Factory at Arsiwala Villa: Forget Cooper's (because they'll probably be sold out) and drop by at this dessert shop for a bite of fresh fudge.

Puducherry

The only place in India with French colonial architecture, Puducherry is a great place for a long weekend. And these are our favourite spots to visit:
1) Shree Andhra Tiffin at Heritage Town: Known for their authentic South-Indian cuisine, that is worth every penny you spend, which by the way is just Rs 100.
2) Coromandel Cafe at White Town: Do not miss booking a table at this modern fine-dine in the heart of the summer town. Chef Jay Adams, who is at the restaurant's helm, does a fantastic interpretation of classics with local ingredients. Our favourite? The Posh Pink pasta; no questions asked.

Udaipur

Udaipur is known for its scenic locations, culture and the Rajput-era palaces. Do not forget to visit these places while there:
1) Pandit at Shakti Nagar: They serve different variations and combinations of the much loved pav bhaji.
2) Sindhi Falooda at Ashok Nagar: After a satisfying meal, make sure to visit them for their assorted range of falooda.

Agra

Sitting on the banks of river Yamuna and housing one of the seven wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal, Agra is a beautiful place to visit. While at Agra, do visit:
1) Mama Chicken Mama Franky House at Agra Cantt: If you are crazy for street food, this is your destination.
2) Joney's Place at Bhanumati Road: Walking distance from Taj Mahal, this restaurant is loved by the locals. Do not forget to try their famous banana lassi.
