Moongi ki dal (Yellow Lentils)


  • Wash the dal
  • Add 1 cup of water to it
  • Transfer it to a pressure cooker
  • Add the onions next
  • Add the tomatoes
  • Add the green chillies
  • Add some salt
  • Add the turmeric powder
  • Stir the ingredients well
  • Shut the cooker and wait for 2 whistles
  • Keep the pressure cooker aside and start making the tadka for the dal
  • Heat ghee in a pan
  • Once the ghee is hot, add the rye
  • Add some jeera
  • Add the curry leaves
  • Add garlic
  • Add the red chillies
  • Stir well
  • Once the garlic turn golden brown in colour, add the tadka to the dal
  • Stir well
  • Add some water if the dal appears too thick
  • Stir again
  • Give the dal one quick boil
  • Garnish with some coriander leaves
  • Ready to serve!
