Spotted: There is a new patisserie in town, and the word on the street is that it comes approved by Blair Waldorf from the iconic TV show Gossip Girl. What does the latest outpost in New Delhi have in common with Blair?

In the episode "Juliet Doesn't Live Here Anymore" in Season 4 of Gossip Girl, Blair Waldorf drowns her sorrows with a bubble bath and cookies. However, in true Waldorf fashion, she goes for the pistachio macarons from Ladurée, instead of homespun alternatives from the department store. So, you can only understand our excitement when we hear that they are launching a store in New Delhi.

My Home Is Khan

Staying true to its classic and royal roots, the French luxury confectionery Ladurée chose Khan Market as the location, which is complete with cobblestone streets and the tiny coffee shops and stores that go in sync Franchised by Delhi-based real estate developers CK Israni Group, it's housed at a three-storeyed building in the market's prime front entrance. Inside the store, the interiors are bold but classic and done up in pink and coral tones. Is it the perfect place for you to spend your afternoon after a shopping spree? Yes, it is.

Like a true blue Delhite, who also happens to be a food writer, I went for the opening and let's just say, we get why Blair wanted those specific macarons.

First Bite

With two entries, with a walk-through ground floor that exits into the middle lane, the floor is dedicated to all French patisserie, like macarons, available in 12 flavours, among other treats. And the second entrance takes you directly to the luxurious dine-in setup. With 'gram-worthy interiors and enough mirrors to last you selfies till Christmas (Yes, I am guilty of clicking a few, too) this cafe is all set to become the talk of the town. Inside the swish salon de thé (tea room), it is easy to forget that I am in New Delhi. Funnily enough, a day before, I posted an Instagram story with coffee and croissants and wrote, 'Mentally, I'm in Paris'. Manifestation, ladies? We think so.

Of course, I went for the pistachio macarons and let's just say, it's just the right balance of crisp and chewy and perfect with a steaming cup of americanoI also got to try one of the desserts on their menu, Ispahan—a pink macaron with rose petal cream, raspberries and lychees and it was just as decadent as it sounds. The café menu does offer a few local adaptations with a chicken tikka club sandwich up for grabs. This makes me wonder if it is symbolic, fate or just a huge coincidence that this mix of tradition and modernity at Laduree's New Delhi outpost is just a tad bit representative of you-know-who. Well, Blair, of course. And you know what, girls? Who cares about whether there's a Chuck Bass look-alike or not in Delhi, because for us, it's the macarons we want to make love to.Until next time,

XOXO
