Procedure:

  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker
  • Add the onions
  • Saute the onions until brown
  • TIP: Add little salt to cook the onions faster
  • Add the garlic ginger paste
  • Mix well
  • Add the tomato puree
  • Add the salt
  • Add the red chilli powder
  • Add the haldi powder (turmeric powder)
  • Mix well
  • Let the masala cook
  • Once the oil has left the side of the masala
  • With the help of a hand blender, smoothen the masala to a fine paste
  • Add the lobiya
  • Shut the cooker and let the lobiya cook for 2 whistles and then on slow for 5-7 mins
  • For 1 cup of lobiya use 2 cups of water
  • TIP: Press and check if the lobiya is soft and cooked
  • Add coriander powder
  • Add the jeera powder (cumin seed powder)
  • Add the coriander leaves
  • Mix well
  • TIP: Add ¼ cup of water for a thinner gravy
  • Ready to serve
