Jan 05, 2018

No Indian festival is complete without a halwa as an offering. And even on regular days, rava sheera or sooji halwa can be enjoyed as a sweet treat. Resplendent with the richness and flavour of pure ghee, this classic semolina-based Indian dessert is a must-try.

    1 cup Semolina
    1/2 cup Ghee
    1 cup Sugar
    1 cup Water
    1 tsp Cardamom Powder
    1 tsp Edible Colour
    1 tsp Saffron
    Almonds, chopped & as required
    Raisins, as required
    Pista, as required
    1/2 tsp Rose Water

In a dry pan, add the semolina and roast it for 2 mins. Then take it out on a plate.
In the same pan, add ghee and leave it to get heated up.
While the ghee heats, add sugar & water in a separate pan and get it boiling.
As the ghee melts & heats up, add the semolina into the ghee and keep mixing it.
Once the sugar syrup starts heating, add cardamom powder, edible colour & saffron and give it a good mix.
Add this water into the semolina mixture while stirring continuously.
Then add almonds, raisins, pistachios and rose water and give it one final mix and serve.
