Start by adding spinach, onion, dal & water in a deep pan. Leave this to steam for around 30 mins.
In the meanwhile, make the chutney that will go in the dal. To make this chutney add coriander, coconut, green chilies & tamarind water in a mixture and grind it well till it becomes a paste. Keep aside.
Once the spinach & dal is cooked give it a good mix. Add salt and the chutney and mix it well.
Let it cook for another 5-7 mins.
Till then make the tadka by adding oil, garlic & turmeric powder in a small pan. Once it starts sizzling, immediately add it to the dal. – Give the dal one last mix and serve!
