• Wash the rice twice
  • Do not wash the rice more than twice as it tends to break
  • Add the washed rice into the vessel
  • Add 2 cups of water
  • And salt according to taste
  • Mix it
  • When making biryani rice, use basmati rice or kolam, add lime juice which helps the rice become non-sticky
  • Leave the rice to boil for 5-10 mins
  • If there is excess water in the rice, do drain it once the rice is cooked
  • Once the water has dried, to check if rice is cooked, smash a few grains with your fingers
  • Let the rice cook for couple of minutes under steam (approximately 2 minutes)
  • Plain rice is ready
