Homemade Batata Vada

Easy

Make Mumbai's favourite street food at home. Stuff it in a pao and serve some fried green chillies on the side.

INGREDIENTS

    4 potatoes boiled and peeled
    1 tbsp mustard seeds
    1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    3/4 tsp asafoetida
    7-8 curry leaves
    Salt according to taste
    1 tbsp ginger-garlic-green chilli coarsely ground
    Chickpea flour
    Oil for deep frying

DIRECTIONS

1. In a heated pan, add in oil, mustard seeds, turmeric, curry leaves, ginger garlic and chilli paste, salt and mix well.

2. In a large bowl, add mashed potatoes and the mustard seed mix. Mix well.

3. To make the batter, add chickpea flour, turmeric powder, salt and water and mix well to make a paste.

4. Make small potaoto balls with the potaoto mix and coat them with the batter.

5. Deep fry and serve.
