With our quick and easy to follow Masala Vada recipe we’re bringing this classic street food into your kitchen. A Daal base infused with chilies and spices, fried to perfection creates a crisp outer layer for your Masala Vada with each bite leaving behind a rich meld of spices to tickle your taste buds.

INGREDIENTS

    ½ Cup chana dal
    1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
    ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
    Salt to taste
    1 teaspoon chana dal soaked in water
    1 teaspoon fennel seeds, roughly crushed
    1 tablespoon coriander leaves
    1 teaspoon finely chopped/grated ginger
    2 dry red chilies, chopped
    1 green chili, roughly chopped
    2 sprigs Curry leaves
    Water
    Oil for deep frying

DIRECTIONS

– Soak dal in water for 45 minutes or till chana is breakable. Drain all excess water and grind to a coarse paste.
– Add rest of the ingredients except oil and mix into thick dough, using little water if required.
– Shape into vadas and deep fry in hot oil till golden brown and crisp.
