Method

  • Add a pinch of salt to the all purpose flour
  • Add vanilla powder
  • Add melted butter and sugar mixture
  • Mix well to form the dough
  • TIP: The consistency should be like sand before adding water
  • TIP: Add water in intervals and as per requirement
  • Dough is ready
  • TIP: Rest the dough for 15-20 minutes
  • Once the dough is ready, pour enough oil for deep frying
  • Make pea or marble sized dough balls
  • TIP: Avoid using oil while making dough balls because of the butter content in it
  • Once the dough ball is made, press it on the back of the fork and flatten it
  • Roll the dough backwards
  • TIP: Ensure the ends are tight once the roll is made
  • Drop the kal kals into the hot oil
  • Fry for 30-40 seconds till they turn golden brown
  • ready to serve
