Maharashtrian Amti Recipe: Tur Dal Fry

Tur Dal Amti is an appetizing Maharashtrian style dal tempered with chilies, garam masala, curry leaves and mustard seeds. Watch and learn this easy to make and pleasing to the palate recipe by Roopa and pair this delicious comfort food with chapati or dal.

INGREDIENTS

    1 cup tur dal cooked
    Turmeric: 1 teaspoon
    Chilli powder: A pinch
    Garam masala: A pinch
    2 Green chilies
    Ginger grated 1tsp
    1 tomato chopped
    Mustard seed: 1 teaspoon
    Hing: A pinch
    Curry leaves
    Jeera
    Ghee
    Sugar

DIRECTIONS

Pressure cook tur dal adding turmeric and salt to taste.
Take a saucepan, add cooked dal, water, ginger, tomato, green chili.
Mix it together and close the lid.
Let it cook for few minutes.
Add salt, turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala and sugar.

For tempering
Heat ghee in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and hing.
Add the tempering to the dal mixture .
Your sweet & spicy amti is ready to serve.
