Mumbai’s Street Food Comes Home! Pav Bhaji Recipe in Hindi

Pav bhaji is the quickest and most delicious meal you can get on Mumbai's streets. But it's really simple to whip up this buttery and spicy vegetarian dish at home as well. Sadaf Hussein takes you through his mouth-watering recipe for pav bhaji in Hindi.


    2 tablespoon butter
    1 large chopped onion
    1 teaspoon minced ginger
    1 teaspoon minced garlic
    2 slit green chilies
    1 bell pepper (chopped)
    3 tomatoes (chopped)
    1 cup Green beans (Boiled and diced)
    1 cup carrots (Boiled and diced)
    1 cup cauliflower (Boiled and diced)
    1 cup potatoes (Boiled and diced)
    1/2 cup boiled green peas
    3 teaspoon pav bhaji masala
    1 teaspoon red chili powder
    1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
    Salt to taste
    1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
    2 pavs (buns)
    Chopped coriander, onion, green chilies and diced butter for garnish


Heat oil in a pan. Add onions, ginger, garlic, and green chillies and sauté till golden brown.
Add boiled vegetables and stir. Stir in the pav bhaji masala, turmeric, tomatoes, capsicum and salt.
Add slit green chillies and water and mix it well. Cook for 4-5 minutes.
Mash the vegetables till they are little pulpy.
Add lemon juice and serve with buttered and toasted buns, onions and lemon wedges.
