  • Soak the tamarind in a little bit of water for about 10 minutes
  • Squeeze the soaked tamarind well
  • Bring the tamarind to a boil and add the tomatoes and salt
  • Boil the ingredients together till the tomatoes are cooked nicely
  • As the tomatoes are cooking, grind the pepper and red chilli and mix the powder well
  • Add the mix to the pan of boiling tomatoes
  • Add some more water
  • Let the mixture come to a nice boil
  • Garnish the rasam with some coriander
