Rice Rotis (Tandlachi Bhakri)

Tandlachi Bhakri or Rice Rotis are very popular in the Konkan coast and goes very well with any fish, chicken or mutton curry!

  1. Boil 1 cup water
  2. Add salt to taste
  3. Add 1 tsp oil
  4. Once the water has boiled, switch off the gas
  5. TIP: For 1 cup water, use 1 cup rice flour
  6. Add 1 cup flour to the water
  7. Mix well
  8. TIP: Cool the mixture for a couple of minutes
  9. Once the mixture has cooled, knead it into a dough
  10. While the dough is being formed, heat the griddle
  11. TIP: To ensure the dough is smooth, add little water and oil
  12. Once the dough is formed, make dough balls
  13. Roll the dough into a thin chapati
  14. Place it on the hot griddle
  15. TIP: Sprinkle water on the bhakri (roti) to ensure it remains soft
  16. Let it puff on both sides and flip it on the flame as well
  17. Ready to serve
