Chana Dal

Method:

  • In a pressure cooker, pour in the oil
  • Once the oil is hot, add the jeera
  • Add the chopped and garlic-ginger
  • Stir well
  • Add chopped onions
  • Stir well
  • TIP: Cook the onions till they turn brown
  • Add salt to taste
  • Add little water
  • Add tomatoes
  • Add salt to taste
  • Add red chilli powder
  • Add turmeric powder
  • Add the washed chana dal
  • Add the chopped white pumpkin
  • Stir well
  • Add coriander leaves
  • TIP: You can use coriander leaves for tadka
  • Add water for the dal to cook
  • Mix well
  • Cook the dal upto 2-3 whistles for 5-7 mins on a slow flame
  • TIP: Add more water to make the dal thinner
  • Let the dal simmer for 5 mins on a slow flame
  • Add green chillies
  • Add coriander leaves
  • Mix well
  • Ready to serve
