Dal Makhni Recipe

Procedure Of Dal Makhni-
- Transfer the soaked dal into a pressure cooker
- Add half the salt
- Add 3 glasses/ cups of water
- Shut the cooker and let the dal cook on high flame for two whistles and after that for 15-20 mins on a low flame
- Heat ghee (clarified butter) in a pan
- Add the chopped onions & Stir well
- In the meanwhile check on the dal after 2-3 whistles lower the flame
- Once the onions have turned to pale brown, add the ginger-garlic paste & Stir well
- Add the pureed tomatoes & Mix well
- Add the remaining salt
- Add red chilli powder
- Stir well and let it cook on low flame
- TIP: Tomatoes are cooked once they reduce in quantity and when you can see the ghee leaving the sides
- Transfer the tadka into the cooker & Mix well
- Add water as per required consistency & Mix well
- Shut the cooker and cook the dal for one more whistle
- Add the cumin powder
- Add the dhaniya powder (coriander powder)
- Add the kasoori methi
- Add the green chillies for garnish
- Add a few coriander leaves
- Add the butter
- Add the fresh cream & Mix well
- Cook the dal for another 5-7 mins on slow flame
Now It is Ready to serve
