Masala khichdi

Procedure

  • TIP : Cook the khichdi in a container that goes into a pressure cooker
  • Add the washed and soaked rice into a container
  • Add the washed and soaked moong dal (yellow split gram)
  • Add the boiled mixed vegetables
  • Add ½ tsp of haldi (turmeric powder)
  • Add 1 tsp of salt
  • 2 cup of water for cooking the given proportions of rice and dal
  • Place the container into the pressure cooker
  • Cook the khichdi for 3-4 whistles

For tempering

  • Add 1 tbsp of ghee (clarified butter) into the tempering pan
  • Add coriander and cumin powder
  • Add red chilli powder
  • Add garam masala
  • Add ginger chilli paste
  • Mix well
  • Roast the tempering for 30 seconds
  • Keep the tempering aside until the khichdi is cooked
  • Add the liquefied tomatoes juice into the cooked khichdi
  • Mix well
  • Add the tempering
  • Mix well
  • Ready to be served
