Sesame Brittle

Method

  • Roast 1 cup sesame seeds lightly
  • TIP: Ensure that the seeds do not turn red
  • Once the sesame seeds are roasted, transfer it into a bowl
  • Now, melt 1 cup jaggery and 1 tsp ghee
  • TIP: The jaggery syrup should be brown in colour
  • TIP: To know if the syrup is ready, pour a string in a bowl of water and if it solidifies, it is ready
  • Once the syrup is ready, turn off the gas
  • Add the roasted sesame seeds
  • Mix well
  • Apply ghee in a steel plate
  • Put the sesame seed-jaggery mixture into the plate
  • Flatten it with a spoon
  • TIP: While the brittle is hot, use a knife to make pieces
  • Cool for 10-15 mins
  • Ready to serve
