Embark on a culinary journey where Mumbai's dining landscape meets a fresh Mexican wave at Lyla. Nestled amidst the diverse eateries of BKC, you step into a realm curated by Chrome Hospitality's dynamic trio: Pawan Shahri, Dhaval Udeshi and Nikita Shahri. Drawing from the successes of Gigi, KAIA Goa, Donna Deli and Eve, Lyla introduces a fusion of South American and Californian influences, promising you an exhilarating gastronomic adventure.

As you enter Lyla, vibrant hues and eclectic design elements envelop you in an inviting atmosphere, blending native Indian, Afro-Latin and Spanish aesthetics. Your gaze is immediately drawn to the expansive island bar, adorned in warm wood tones, beckoning you to indulge. Beyond, a cozy yet lively setting unfolds with vibrant murals, Mexican masks and quirky lamps creating an intimate backdrop. Tropical botanicals and the melodic strains of Spanish music add to the ambience, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience.

What we tried
Priyanko Sarkar, a renowned spirits journalist, leads Lyla's cocktail menu, weaving narratives inspired by the Spanish and Californian Gold Rushes. Tequilas and mezcals take center stage, accompanied by intriguing concoctions like the Cali Peeli—a Mumbai-inspired twist on the Paloma—and the refreshing Mango Picante with avocado. Each sip unveils layers of flavour, from the zesty Not My Day to the sophisticated Lyla’s Call, capturing the essence of the menu's theme.

The menu helmed by Chef Beena Noronha, transcends borders, blending Mexico's bold flavors with California's innovative techniques. Each dish tells a story, celebrating seasonal ingredients with flair. Our culinary journey began with a hands-on experience, crafting the Summer Garden Guacamole tableside, adorned with feta cheese and pomegranate for a delightful twist. Savoury Lima Churros followed, offering an enticing fusion of flavors.

Venture beyond traditional fare as you sample BBQ Tiger Prawns, a refreshing medley of grilled black tiger prawns, saffron aioli, mango salsa, charred lemon and dill leaves. For mains, we indulged in the Chicken Adobo which was essentially a grilled chicken leg paired with spicy adobo gravy and served with coconut rice.

Whether you're seeking a midday escape or a lively evening rendezvous, Lyla delivers an unparalleled fusion of Mexican and Californian cuisine. From the savoury finger-licking churros to the refreshing zest of handcrafted cocktails, each bite and sip at Lyla is a symphony of flavours. Step into this culinary oasis and immerse yourself in a world where bold and innovative dishes reign supreme, promising an experience that will linger long after the last bite.
