How to Make Khichdo by Toral

Khichdo is a nutritious and heavenly delicious Gujarati dish prepared from cracked wheat (Dalia) and lots of dry fruits. It can be sweet as well as savory. In Gujarat, people celebrate festivals like Makar Sankrant (Uttarayan – a kite festival) by preparing, eating and sharing homemade khichdo.

Method:

1. In a heated pan, add in ghee, dalia, milk, raisins and mix well.

2. Add in sugar and elaichi powder and mix again.

3. Grease a plate with ghee and add this mix on it. Press it down firmly for it to set and top it off with grated coconut.

4. Leave it aside for a while, until it sets. Cut into small pieces and serve.
