Marination For Tandoori Chicken

Tandoori Chicken is an all time favourite for all Indian food lovers. However, how much you love it depends on the marination of Tandori Chicken.

  • Score the chicken
  • TIP: Scoring means to make cuts on the meat, in this case chicken
  • TIP: Scoring the chicken ensures the marinate seeps well inside
  • TIP: Scoring can be done with any meat when marinating
  • Score the chicken on both sides
  • Add 1 bowl of curd
  • TIP: Curd acts as a tenderiser and hence is used in marinations
  • TIP: You can use fresh curd or packaged curd
  • Now add 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • And add salt to taste
  • Mix all the ingredients together
  • Once mixed, start coating the chicken with the masala
  • TIP: Ensure the masala penetrates the scores made to pack the flavours in the chicken
  • Turn the chicken and coat it with the marinate
  • TIP: Ensure both the sides of the chicken are coated with the marinade
  • TIP: Use a flat surfaced as it gives space when marinating meat
  • Coat the second chicken piece in the same way
  • Keep aside
