Dal Makhni Recipe

Procedure Of Dal Makhni-

  • Transfer the soaked dal into a pressure cooker
  • Add half the salt
  • Add 3 glasses/ cups of water
  • Shut the cooker and let the dal cook on high flame for two whistles and after that for 15-20 mins on a low flame
  • Heat ghee (clarified butter) in a pan
  • Add the chopped onions & Stir well
  • In the meanwhile check on the dal after 2-3 whistles lower the flame
  • Once the onions have turned to pale brown, add the ginger-garlic paste & Stir well
  • Add the pureed tomatoes & Mix well
  • Add the remaining salt
  • Add red chilli powder
  • Stir well and let it cook on low flame
  • TIP: Tomatoes are cooked once they reduce in quantity and when you can see the ghee leaving the sides
  • Transfer the tadka into the cooker & Mix well
  • Add water as per required consistency & Mix well
  • Shut the cooker and cook the dal for one more whistle
  • Add the cumin powder
  • Add the dhaniya powder (coriander powder)
  • Add the kasoori methi
  • Add the green chillies for garnish
  • Add a few coriander leaves
  • Add the butter
  • Add the fresh cream & Mix well
  • Cook the dal for another 5-7 mins on slow flame

Now It is Ready to serve
